Nitrogen content of solid biomass using the CHN method
Determination of carbon, hydrogen, and nitrogen in solid biomass using the CHN method according to EN 15104 standard. The sample is combusted at high temperature (>900°C) in the presence of oxygen.
Results are reported as a percentage (%) on a dry basis. The nitrogen content can be used to calculate the amount of protein in the material using a conversion factor (typically 6.25).
