Fibre furnish analysis with Hertzberg staining test

This test can be used to determine the main fibre content of papers and boards. In the test a saturated solution of zinc chloride, iodine and potassium iodide is used to colour the paper. The solution affects fibres differently and can therefore use to qualitatively and quantitatively measure mechanical, rag, chemical, and semi-chemical pulps, regenerated cellulose fibres, and synthetic fibres in paper and board.
