Specific migration testing – bisphenol S
Specific migration of 4,4′-dihydroxydiphenyl sulphone (bisphenol S, BPS) [CAS: 80-09-1] from a sample or material intended for food contact.
BPS is listed with FCM 154 and Ref No. 13617, 16090 in European Commission Regulation No 2011/10 with an SML value of 0.05 mg/kg of food.
Bisphenol S is used e.g. as a monomer in polyethersulfone (PES) resins and as a color developer in thermal papers.
