Quantitative determination of hazelnuts in food with the ELISA method to enable allergen labeling by EU regulations.
According to Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 on the provision of food information to consumers, hazelnuts and other allergens must be indicated and emphasized in the list of ingredients. If hazelnuts have not been used intentionally but may be present unintentionally, a voluntary indication is recommended.
The analysis is also suitable for feed, dietary supplements, cosmetics, and environmental samples. Several different ELISA kits are available, and the best-suited one is chosen based on sample composition.
