Allergens (ELISA) - beta-lactoglobulin
Quantitative analysis of beta-lactoglobulin (β-lactoglobulin, BLG) in food to evaluate the presence of milk allergens. Testing is based on the ELISA method and is also suitable for other matrices, such as feed, dietary supplements, cosmetics, and environmental samples.
Beta-lactoglobulin is a milk protein and a major component of cow's and sheep's milk whey proteins in particular.
Companies are required to indicate and emphasize the presence of milk and milk products on food product labels due to their propensity to cause allergies and intolerances. In addition to declaring intentional use, providing a voluntary disclaimer is recommended when the product may contain milk unintentionally.
