Allergens (ELISA) - almond
Quantitative determination of almonds in food, feed, dietary supplements, cosmetics, and environmental samples with the ELISA method.
Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 on the provision of food information to consumers specifies almonds as a substance or product that causes allergies or intolerances. This makes it mandatory to indicate and emphasize the presence of almonds in the list of ingredients when they are used intentionally.
If the food product may contain almonds due to unintentional contamination, voluntary indication is recommended.
Several different ELISA kits are available for the analysis. The best-suited one is chosen based on sample composition to minimize the risk of cross-reactions.
