Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) in food and dietary supplements
Determination of vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) content in food or dietary supplements with a high-performance liquid chromatography-based method. The lower displayed price applies to the analysis of supplements and the higher to food.
According to EU regulations, the nutrition declaration for food products may include the amount of pantothenic acid, if it is present in significant amounts. The daily reference intake is 6 mg, and the declaration can be made if the product contains vitamin B5 in at least the following concentrations:
0.9 mg/100 g or 100 ml in products other than beverages (15% of daily reference intake)
0.45 mg/100 ml in beverages (7.5% of daily reference intake)
0.9 mg per portion if the package only contains a single portion (15% of daily reference intake)
Food products that contain at least the above amounts of vitamin B5 can be labeled with the nutrition claim "Source of pantothenic acid". Further nutrition and health claims can be applied in accordance with Regulations (EC) No 1924/2006 and (EU) No 432/2012.
