Inositol, or myo-inositol, plays several roles in human biology and is considered a vitamin-like compound, although not a vitamin. Regulation (EU) No 609/2013 lists inositol as a substance that can be added to products such as infant formula and baby foods.
Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2016/127 mandates that for infant formula, the inositol content must be included in the nutrition declaration.
