Propylene oxide content
The test includes an analysis of propylene oxide content as well as a computational specific migration determination by assuming 100 % migration.
Propylene oxide [CAS 75-56-9, Ref No 24010, FCM 135] is a highly volatile and toxic substance used in e.g. manufacturing of polyurethanes. It can be used to manufacture food contact materials, but the substance has restrictions for both residual content (QM) and migration (SML) in Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 (QM: 1 mg/kg; SML: ND - not detected).
