Specific migration testing – ethylene glycol and diethylene glycol
Specific migration of ethylene glycol [CAS 107-21-1; Ref. No 16990/53650; FCM 227] and diethylene glycol [CAS 111-46-6; Ref. No 13326/15760/47680, FCM 263] from a plastic food contact material. The compounds are listed in Annex I of European Regulation No 2011/10.
The compounds are grouped with FCM 89 and FCM 1048 (Group 2), which together have an SML of 30 mg/kg food (expressed as ethylene glycol).
