CHN analysis for the determination of carbon, hydrogen, and nitrogen in pyrolysis oil, petroleum products, lubricants, and related liquid or solid organic sample matrices. Testing is conducted according to the ASTM D5291 standard.
A weighed test portion is introduced into an elemental analyzer and converted by high-temperature combustion to measurable gaseous products, which are then quantified instrumentally to calculate the CHN content. Results are reported in m/m%.
