Food Contact Safe Certificate

Certification criteria
The Measurlabs Food Contact Safe certificate demonstrates that the product fulfills the criteria of applicable EU regulations, including the Framework Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004, the GMP Regulation (EC) No 2023/2006, and the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (EU) 2025/40. Testing is conducted in accordance with applicable material-specific EU-level and national legislation, such as the Plastics Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 and German BfR Recommendations.

Eligible products
The certificate can be issued for finished food packaging, other food contact articles such as kitchen utensils and cookware, as well as raw materials intended for food contact use. All material types are eligible, including plastics, paper and board, novel fiber-based materials, glass, metal, wood, beeswax, ceramics, rubber, and silicones.
Certification process
The certification process consists of three steps:
Document review and test plan creation
Laboratory testing of the material or product
If found compliant, granting of the certificate
All tests must be ordered from Measurlabs to ensure that the product is evaluated against the full set of certification criteria. The certificate is valid for two years, provided that the raw materials, raw material suppliers, and production process remain unchanged. If changes occur, the product must be re-evaluated to ensure it continues to meet the criteria.
