Testing for physical and mechanical properties of toys by European harmonized standard EN 71-1. Assessed risks include e.g. choking hazards, sharp edges, and loose components.

If the toy passes the tests, it can be presumed to comply with the Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC with regard to physical and mechanical properties.
