Landfill suitability test for inert landfill (331/2013)

The Finnish Government Decree on Landfills (331/2013) requires a specific set of analyses to be performed on waste materials before their disposal in a landfill.

Analyses for inert landfill:

• Sample crushing to 4 mm

• Dry matter (%)

• Leaching test (EN 12457-3:2002)

• Total organic carbon, TOC (%w/w)

• BTEX (mg/kg)

• PCBs (mg/kg)

• Mineral oil, C10-C40 (mg/kg)

• PAHs (mg/kg)

• pH

• Acid neutralization capacity, ANC

• Soluble metals (As, Ba, Cd, Cr, Cu, Hg, Mo, Ni, Pb, Sb, Se, Zn) (mg/kg)

• Chloride, Cl (mg/kg)

• Fluoride, F (mg/kg)

• Sulphate, SO₄ (mg/kg)

• Phenol index

• Dissolved organic carbon, DOC (mg/kg)

• Total dissolved solids, TDS (mg/kg)
